European Esthetics started in 1992, by owner Ellen Smith. She opened her doors in a tiny space on School Street in Peterborough, NH.
At that time professional skin care and esthetics was not a common thing. Ellen introduced the importance of skin care to the
Monadnock region as well as educated clients how to take care of themselves through organic skin and body care.
Now, after more than 30 years and in a location where the space is light, bright and airy with the continuous flow and energy of the Nubanusit River. Offering a variety of services including Therapeutic Body Massage, to feel good, reduce stress and
taking care of your body. Natural nail care services, which are very relaxing through deep massage with local olive oils and aromatherapy.
Professional care and continued education is valued deeply and customer satisfaction is priority.
European Esthetics' doors are open for anyone who wants to come relax, pass some time as well as connect with friends.

“I feel so grateful to have found my Esthetic career after many years of being in the beauty industry. Being a cosmotologist in the 80’s and 90’s looked a lot different than it does today. After having my 4 beautiful children and going through many life changes in the past few years, it was time to get back into my passion again. Being in the hair business was exciting and fun, but I have found what I truly love to do”.
Jacqueline always loved the esthetics part of her cosmetology training and decided to go back to school for my Esthetician license. She attended Spa Tech Institute in Plymouth Ma., and has been a licensed esthetician since 2017. She learned a more holistic approach and putting clients’ individual needs first. She enjoys having an ongoing relationship with clients, and help them empower themselves to treat their skin properly outside of the spa treatments. Jacquie has worked at beautiful high end luxury spas and received excellent training to further her career. This has given her the confidence to have clients feel truly relaxed and rejuvenated after their treatments.

"After being a stay at home mom of two sets of twin girls I decided I wanted to go back to school for Esthetics. I have always been passionate about all things skin care. I have been a licensed esthetician since 2015 and have continued to receive additional training over the years. After moving from Aspen, CO to Jaffrey, NH to be closer to family, I am now happy to be a part of European Esthetics, it’s such calming and peaceful atmosphere."
"Having spent 8+ years in the nursing field and then 2 as a stay at home mom I am excited to work with a business that promotes health, wellness and beauty. Working in a calm, warm and welcoming spa is the perfect match for me since I spend the rest of my time with my curious and energetic boys. Dylan is 12, Connor 10 and Ryan is 9. I enjoy interacting with people and have a knack for customer service. I am a lifelong resident of Greenfield, but now live in Peterborough and love everything about New Hampshire! As a Licensed Nail Technician, I love to help our clients with great looking toe nails and finger nails!"
“I have always been amazed at the power of massage and how it’s able to pick up where being human ends. Client based care has always been my passion, stemming from five years as an Nursing Assistant, I was drawn to massage as a relaxing career and ended up falling in love with the creativity, spirituality, and healing I have seen accomplished with a combination of relaxation and clinical techniques. I take pride in meeting people where they are at, and improving their day in whatever way I can. I have a passion working with all walks of people and that has always included providing a safe and comfortable space for people in the LGBTQ+ community. I believe massage should be for everyone: no ifs, ands, or buts.
I specialize in deep tissue, spa/relaxation, hot stone, and prenatal massage therapy, but am expanding my knowledge in my career. I have also been known to work on energetic healing with those open to it.
I hope to see you soon so I can offer you a space filled with peace, free of judgement.”
Brynnon graduated with a Certificate of Massage Therapy from River Valley Community College 2019, and a Associates of Science in 2022.
They live in Keene with their older sister and family of fur babies. After moving back from Las Vegas with her sister, she settled at European Esthetics as their full time massage therapist in fall of 2021.

Leslie Hartwell is the first face you will see at European Esthetics as our front desk receptionist. Leslie is a New Hampshire native, and enjoys gardening, animals and nature. She is an accomplished watercolorist and has shown and sold locally. Leslie has years of customer service experience and looks forward to seeing you at European Esthetics.
"I am feeling very fortunate to be able to do what I love doing! Helping people feel great about their skin and give them some time for themselves, is a wonderful thing! My mother was an esthetician in the Netherlands where I grew up and although I first wanted to become a nurse, I changed my mind and truly loved the two year esthetics education, a program offered by my Mom's teacher! I am very grateful to be part of the Peterborough community for more than 30 years; our clients at European Esthetics have been so supportive throughout the years! I completed my certification for Holistic Health Coach at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in NYC in 2012.
It is extremely rewarding to see our clients feel amazing when they spend time on themselves. In supporting women on their self-love journey, I offer a special solo retreat experience, a MeTreat, that allows you to deeply explore what it is that is missing from your everyday life and help create clarity on what your desires are to live joyfully. I am always here for questions!"
Ellen lives in Jaffrey, with her husband James. Fiona (23) is in her grad program at University of Hartford CT, while Sabina (29) decided to stay in the Netherlands after her college years, loving the life, her home and her husband Nick.
